Wow, has it really been over a YEAR since we sent out a newsletter?
A lot has happened in the past year, both here in Eureka Springs and nationally. We've had our share of belt-tightening at CycleGadgets.com but overall we're doing well despite the poor economy in many sectors. We have spoken with a lot of customers, friends, and family who have been hard-hit by the economic turn-down, and we have seen some of our suppliers go out of business as a result.
It's not all bad news, though. The summer here in Eureka Springs, Arkansas was beautiful, and FILLED with motorcyclists enjoying the pristine Ozark mountain roads. Local hotel and restaurant owners tell me that the motorcycle tourism was definitely up this year, perhaps some of you were a part of that trend! We certainly hope that if you did visit, that you'll be back, and if you haven't, please consider us as a destination for your next riding vacation!
We have continued to add products to our line, so be sure to check out our New Products section (see the Quick Links to the left). Also, our rally schedule has expanded; by the end of 2009 we will have attended 22 shows from coast to coast - up from 14 in 2008! We'd love to see you at a show as well, so watch our schedule for events near you.

Eureka Springs Arkansas First Oktoberfest
The Eureka Springs Motorcycle Club represents individuals and business that have joined together to promote Eureka Springs, Arkansas as the premier destination to visit while riding the Ozarks.
The ESMC is sponsoring the First Annual Oktoberfest being held Saturday, October 31, 2009 from 2 pm until 10 pm at 4032 E Van Buren St (aka Hwy 62).

Cold Weather Gear

Cold weather does not stop most of us from indulging in our passion to ride but finding a comfortable way to endure the cold sure does help. Years ago, before I got my first Gerbing Heated Clothes, I would layer. By the time I got everything on I looked like the Michelin Woman and could barely move well enough to get my leg over the seat of the bike. Warm... sort of... comfortable NOT.
When I first rode on a cold day with only a long sleeve T shirt under my Gerbing Jacket Liner and just a single layer leather jacket over the liner, I was more than a bit skeptical that I would stay warm. All skepticism was gone within about 20 minutes. I was comfortably warm and I could move easily. I actually had to turn the controller down, and for me that was a miracle, as Sean will gladly tell you!
Gerbing's Heated Clothes make a great gift. The Gloves and Insoles are easy to size using the charts on our web site. And even if you have heated grips don't let that dissuade you from Heated Gloves. Just think of all that cold air rushing over the backs of your hands.... where grips don't warm.
If contemplating a Jacket Liner, Pants Liner or one of the heated outer Garments we strongly advise being fitted by a dealer. Fit is extremely important. The Jacket Liners fit snug and to many people it feels odd and wrong to wear something so close fitting. But they are not designed to fit like an outer coat. The warmth needs to be close to your body with no "blousing' to cause contact loss.
If you don't have a dealer close by where you can try on the garment.... give me a call... I have gotten pretty good at sizing people from supplied measurements. If you are buying as a gift.... we can provide a gift certificate and then help your recipient with sizing when they redeem the certificate.

Christmas Shoppers - Order Early
All of us have experienced the ups and downs (mostly downs) of the current economy. One particular way that affects our customers, is the slowing down of some manufacturers. In the past most of our suppliers would ship to us the very same day that we placed an order. Now we are seeing shipping dates anywhere from 10-20 days out.
Although we still offer guaranteed 3-day shipping times within the Continental USA, that is the in-transit time after the item is shipped. We try very hard to ship orders out the very same day we receive them, but it is getting harder and harder to do so. Inventory management is always a tightrope walk. The current economy does not allow us the luxury of overstocking, and if a supplier delays shipping our order longer than we expect then we can find ourselves out of stock for 2 or 3 weeks on some items. We highly recommend that you place your Christmas gift orders as early as possible. In that way we will be able to help you fill your Christmas gift list. Waiting till the week before Christmas could be disappointing.
