Dear Customer,

What a busy summer it's been!  I hope all of you took the opportuntity, especially with fuel prices what they were, to get out on your motorcycles as much as possible.  I know that I did!

We had a great summer here at CycleGadgets.com and I'm very glad to have met so many of you either at the rallies we attended, or at our shop here in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  As I write this, we're looking forward to a great fall color season here in the Ozarks, and we're seeing motorcycle tourism make up the strongest part of the local economy.

Every day we welcome groups of motorcyclists into our shop and into Eureka Springs, with larger groups each week escaping the oncoming cold weather "up north".  I've spoken to riders from Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, my home state of Indiana, and even a couple from Wyoming.  As always visitors from Louisiana, Alamaba, Mississippi, Texas, and Oklahoma are frequent sights.

Wherever you are, the riding season is changing.  Some of my customers in the South tell me that they're just getting into the busy season, it's been too HOT to ride much until now!  Riders in the north are contemplating putting the bikes up for the season, and hopefully taking advantage of every opportunity to ride until the inevitable snowfall.

For those who have an opportunity to come ride the Ozarks, we hope you'll make a visit to CycleGadgets a part of your trip.  For the rest of you, wherever you ride, please do so safely.
TechNote #5 - Motorcycle Audio (Part 1)
by Sean Franklin

We field a lot of questions every day regarding audio on motorcycles.  Some people just want to hear their iPod or satellite radio, others want to talk to passengers or other bikes, and many want to integrate a variety of audio devices including GPS and radar.  The questions might relate to bikes like the Gold Wing or Ultra Classic, which already have some built-in audio capability, or it might be a sport bike, sport-tourer, cruiser, dual-sport, or even a scooter where we're starting from scratch.

Obviously this is a pretty big subject, so I'm going to break it down into several TechNotes to cover all the bases.  This month's subject, "Just Listening", addresses those people who want to hear something, but not talk to anyone, and who have no built-in audio on their motorcycle.  In future TechNotes, I'll get into systems that incorporate rider-to-passenger, bike-to-bike, and cell phone communications as well, and I'll discuss how to add new capabilities to bikes that have built-in audio...

Out and About in Eureka Springs

by Laurene Franklin

October is becoming my favorite month in and around Northwest Arkansas.  The days are perfect for motorcycling: bright sunshine, temperatures in the mid-seventies and picture-perfect blue skies. Could we ask more?  How about some breathtaking scenery?  This morning, as we rounded curve after curve on silky smooth pavement I was again awestruck by the ever-changing face of our "Natural State".

We pass along a section of Beaver Lake and cross Beaver Dam each morning and evening during our 10 minute no-traffic commute. The fog this morning was thick and rolling, totally obscuring the lake yet parting suddenly on the north side of the bridge to create the appearance of a train tunnel carved into the mountainside.  Yesterday the fog danced in individual ribbons on the lake surface resembling a thousand tiny mystical fairies dancing in the sunlight.  And the day before, I was transported back to Camelot visualizing the Lady in the Lake rising out of the haunting mist.

The sunlit dew outlines intricate spider webs adorning the trees along our route.  Smaller webs appear as tiny snowy ornaments suspended from upper braches of small pines. The fog begins to clear as the sun streams through the tree tops casting beautiful ribbons of light. A deer actually stands waiting by the side of the road until we pass. And the eagles are returning!  They have such a majesty and haunting presence soaring, gliding high above the countryside.

Just about any road you choose will be a wonderful experience in motorcycling and nature.  Check out our friends at http://www.CruiseTheOzarks.com for some great trip ideas and keep watching CycleGadgets.com for news about our April Adventure Ride-In.

Enjoy and Ride Safe

Gator Straps
With the coming cold weather in many parts of the country, die-hard motorcyclists are trailering their bikes south for vacations in areas where the riding season is still in its prime.  Don't trust your valuable and beloved ride to just any old nylon webbing strap, though - get the best motorcycle straps that money can buy (and it's not even that much money).  Gator Straps have integral soft-ties, and their 7' length isn't too long or too short like the Wal-Mart specials that we often struggled with before.  In stock at CycleGadgets.com for immediate shipment.

Order now for guaranteed 3 business day delivery to anywhere in the Continental USA!
