#1 - When using S-Plug Earplug Speakers on my Gold Wing, I hear a whine/buzz in the intercom (particularly when the Cruise Control is engaged)
The GL1800 Gold Wing intercom has a constant background "hiss", and it's made much worse when the cruise control is on. With normal helmet headsets, the hiss is mostly inaudible (the hiss is a constant volume, so with the intercom volume set at a normal level of 12 or so the hiss is very quiet). However when using earplug speakers, often it's necessary to turn the intercom volume down to a very low level - 6 or less. At this volume level, the hiss level is not much quieter than the normal intercom audio, and is much more noticeable. To correct this problem, install an in-line volume control on the earplug speakers. We carry an extension cord with volume control, or you can get a shorter one from Radio Shack. Plug the volume control in-line with your earplug speakers. Set the Intercom volume to about 12, and then turn down the inline volume wheel until the sound level is comfortable. The noise will be gone!
