- My Zumo 450/550 volume is very low, and I have the volume settings at 100%
- I'm getting garbled audio, buzzing, or no sound from a Garmin 2730 with a Kennedy IsoSet, AuxSwitchSet, or AuxADSet interface
- I ordered a R-A-M Garmin holder for my StreetPilot III, but got a round base and some screws. How does this work?
- I'm having problems with the USB Memory Card programmer, and my computer runs Windows XP

#1 - My Zumo 450/550 volume is very low, and I have the volume settings at 100%
There is a master volume control on the Zumo that overrides all the volume settings in the menus. Press the bottom button on the left side of the zumo (the actual button, not on the touch screen). This will bring up a yellow bar-graph volume control. Then press the "+" button (again, the physical button - not the plus symbol on the screen) until all the bars are lit up yellow.

#2 - I'm getting garbled audio, buzzing, or no sound from a Garmin 2730 with a Kennedy IsoSet, AuxSwitchSet, or AuxADSet interface
The audio jack needs to be set to "Headphone" mode, otherwise sound quality will be poor (might get a buzzing/feedback, or no audio, or garbled audio). To do this:
Touch [Menu] button, then:
[Settings], [General], [Audio]
On the Audio screen, touch the down-pointing triangle at the bottom right to bring up additional choices
touch [Audio Jack]
Change setting to "Headphones" instead of "Line Out"

#3 - I ordered a R-A-M Garmin holder for my StreetPilot III, but got a round base and some screws. How does this work?
The StreetPilot III GPS comes with a cradle that is compatible with the R-A-M mounting system. The cradle on your GPS has four holes in the back, which will line up with four of the holes on the round base you received. If you want to get an extra cradle to make it easier to move the GPS between your bike and car, we have them in stock on the StreetPilot III product page.
This works best with the bottom portion of the cradle (which fastens into the swivel base) removed. To remove it, first take out the small phillips screw on the front of the cradle. Then, slide the bottom piece all the way back until it comes off.
Line up the holes in the R-A-M base with the holes in the cradle, and run the screws through from inside the cradle. Fasten the screws with the included washers and locknuts.

#4 - I'm having problems with the USB Memory Card programmer, and my computer runs Windows XP
There is a patch for the Memory Card Programmer drivers available on Garmin's Web site. This patch addresses compatibility issues with USB 2.0 ports and computers running Windows XP. It also works with Windows 98, Windows Me, and Windows 2000.
To download the patch, go to Garmin's Download Page and look for the "USB Programmer Driver Update". You won't need the "USB Programmer Drivers - Initial Install" - those files are included on your MapSource CD-ROM. Download the update to your computer.
If after running this update your USB programmer still does not work, try the following steps:
- Click on [Start], then [Control Panel]
- If the top of the window says "Pick a Category", choose the "Performance and Maintenance" category, then choose "System". Otherwise, look for a "System" icon and double-click it.
- Select the [Hardware] tab.
- Click on [Device Manager]
- Look for any unknown devices (with a yellow exclamaition point next to them). Right-click on any that you find, and select "Uninstall".
- Once all unknown devices are uninstalled, close the Control Panel Windows.
- Unplug your USB programmer if it is plugged in, wait about 10 seconds, and plug it back in.
- If prompted for a driver disk, insert the MapSource CD #1. Accept all default values, including any warning messages.
- Once the drivers are installed, re-run the update you downloaded above.
If you continue to have difficulties, please contact Garmin customer support at 800-800-1020.
